About PWC Federal Credit Union

PWC FCU is the credit union of the Pearl Harbor Navy Public Works Center (PWC). Our mission is to provide the best financial services and products available to PWC employees and their family members.

Our philosophy

A federal credit union is a way for people to help each other with money problems. Members of a credit union pool their money and lend to each other at a reasonable rate. It is a co-operative organization of people with a common bond. This basic idea, more than 100 years old, is so practical that there are now credit unions everywhere in the United States as well as internationally. In Hawaii alone, there are over 170 federal credit unions serving thousands of members.

Ownership

PWC FCU is legally incorporated as a non-profit organization for members only, and is run by our members. Only PWC members have money in the credit union, can use its services, vote for its officers, and manage its affairs.

Is this credit union safe?

Yes it is! PWC Federal Credit Union protects your money well. All deposits are insured by an agency of the U.S. Government (The National Credit Union Administration) up to a maximum of $100,000 per member account.

We are examined regularly by Federal Examiners, and are audited periodically by our Supervisory Committee. Additionally, the Board of Directors also establishes internal controls within the operation. These safeguards keep your money safe.

A credit union for the entire family

As a member of PWC Federal Credit Union, you are an important part of our credit union's family — but did you know that your own family members are also eligible for credit union membership? Thanks to new laws and rules recently enacted, your immediate family members and household members, by nature of their close relationships to you, can become credit union members too!

Eligible family members include:

  • Spouses & children
  • Parents, brothers & sisters
  • Stepchildren & stepparents
  • Grandchildren & grandparents

Household members

All members of your household (persons living under your roof) can also become credit union members. This includes any person sharing a residence as part of a single-family unit, including domestic employees and others who live together as a part of the family unit. An individual may be considered to be living in the same household although he or she is temporarily absent from the residence, such as children in college or the military.

Great family benefits

When your family members join our credit union, they immediately become eligible for the same great benefits you enjoy: low interest-rate loans, higher return on savings, low (or zero) service fees, personalized service, federally insured savings and ownership in our credit union. Importantly, your family will transact its financial business at a place that puts service first. As PWC members, your family will be treated fairly and equitably.
